Meetings

Wednesday, July 19

The Stuart Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. in the Town Office.

 

Thursday, July 20

The Patrick County School Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. in the School Board Office.

 

Wednesday, Aug. 9

The Patrick County Economic Development Authority (EDA) will meet at 7 p.m. in the second-floor conference room.

 

Events

Friday, July 21

The Woolwine Methodist Church food truck will be at the Fairystone Volunteer Fire Department from 3-5 p.m.

 

Saturday, July 22

The Patrick Springs Ruritan Club will hold a fish fry dinner from 4-7 p.m. at the Patrick Springs Park. This fundraiser will help the club to sponsor community service projects including scholarships for high school graduates. The meal will include fried fish, beans, corn, slaw, roll, drink, and dessert. 

 

Thursday, July 27

The Carroll County Genealogy Club will hold their quarterly meeting from 3:30 until 6:30 p.m. at the Carroll County Complex in the circuit court office on the second floor. Those attending will get info on online services available to researchers at any clerk’s office. At 5:15, the club will hold a brief business meeting. After adjournment, Circuit Court Clerk Gerald Goad will give an overview of what is now been offered for genealogy research in his office. 

 

Sunday, July 30

A Growing Patrick County Community Gathering will be held at the DeHart park Picnic Shelter by the pool from 4-7 p.m. There will be free food, games, music, fellowship, and fun.

 

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOLS

Sunday, July 23 – Wednesday, July 26

The New Hope Church of the Brethren will hold a Vacation Bible School from 6-8:15 p.m. The theme is Proclamation Safari, and supper will be provided nightly. 

 

Saturday, July 24 – Friday, July 28

Patrick Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church will hold Pets Unleashed Vacation Bible School from 6:30-8:30 p.m. each night. Open to all ages. Interactive Bible stories, meal, craft, animal meet & greet.

 

Sunday, July 30 – Wednesday, Aug. 2

Middle Cross Missionary Baptist Church will hold a Vacation Bible School 6 – 8:30 p.m. nightly.

The Coffee Break Café hosts live music on Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. Bring an instrument, or just come and listen. 

 

The Patrick County Library hosts Story Time with Ms. Sam at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays, with books, songs, finger plays, and more. For more information, call (276) 694-3352.

 

The Patrick County Library will hold the LEGO Club with Ms. Sam on Mondays from 4:30-5:30 p.m. This program is mainly intended for school age children. For more information, call the library at (276) 694-3352.

 

The Patrick County Quilters’ Sit-N-Sew is held on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Quilted Colors. For more information, call 276-694-3020 or email patrickcountyquilters@gmail.com.

 

The Stuart Elementary School Running Club will hit the pavements along the sidewalks in town on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

 

The Ararat Ruritan Club holds Rook games on Mondays, from 6:30-8 p.m.

 

Briarpatch Amateur Radio Club (BARC) and the Region Four Auxiliary Communication network (AUXCOMM) meetings are at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively, on the 4th Thursday of each month at the First Christian Church in Galax. Visit www.briarpatcharc.com for more information.
