Cougar’s Boys Cross County team finishes second at track meet; Girls and middle school team shows improvement

All Patrick County Cross County teams competed Thursday at Millenium Charter Academy in Mount Airy, N.C.

The Boys team finished second overall with a total time of 1:38:28.20 which was an average time of : 19:41.64. Leading the way for the team was Burke Gonzalez who finished seventh with a time of 18:59.70, and Kristian Reynolds who finished tenth with a time of 19:13.10.

Jared Biedrycki , Alfredo Gutierrez, and Brandon Rohrbach also finished in the top 20.

The Girls team was led by Jordan Haas who finished sixth with a time of 24:28.60, and Contessa Haas who finished 13th with a time of 26:59.00. The best time for the middle school team was Irene Smith’s time of 18:56.30.

Coach Lynn Deckel said that she was “very proud of how everyone performed” and was “especially proud of our varsity boys.” She also feels that the “girls also continue to prove that they are small but mighty, getting stronger with every meet.”

The next meet will be Saturday vs. Cave Spring at Green Hill Park.
