The Patrick County Boys’ Track team finished 17th out of 24 teams last Wednesday at the Metro Championship. Jordan Haas was the Cougars’ first finisher in 80th place among 172 runners on the girls side with a time of 23:37.90.

The best finish for the boys was Kristian Reynolds coming in 35th among 200 runners and was the team’s first finisher with a time of 18:26.10.

According the Head Coach Lynne Deckel, “Our athletes are determined no matter what and it was awesome to see all of the hard work start coming together for many athletes. We just have to keep honing in on our pack on the boys’ side and the mental toughness aspect on the girls’ side and we could see some big things from a lot of people next week.”

The weather was something of a factor, the first cool day of competition but the saving grace was steady, strong sunshine, according to Nelson McConnell.

The Cougars’ next meet is the district championship Wednesday at the Smith River Sports Complex.
