David A. Sheley died on February 13, 2026, at the Woltz Hospice home of multiple organ failure.  He was born on March 24, 1942 in Springfield Ohio, to his late parents, Harry and Alice Sheley.  David was raised in nearby South Charleston Ohio, graduated from that town’s High School, served a term in the U. S. Army in Viet Nam, lived 30 years in rural Clark County Ohio, and then 28 years in Patrick County Virginia.

David was self-employed for most of his life as a restorer of antiques, especially utilizing the lost art of reverse painting on glass.  His work was prized by people who appreciated the value of authenticity in method, materials, and the final result.  He also partially restored two historic houses in which he lived, and helped save another in Ohio.  He was a lover of animals, antiques, and history in general, and was an active member of several local organizations dedicated to each of these interests.

At David’s request there will be no funeral for him. Moody Funeral Services has been entrusted with arrangements.  Online condolences may be made by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com
