Free planning workshops are being offered to those interested in starting a farm.
Virginia State University’s College of Agriculture is sponsoring Beginning Farmer Program workshops across the state. The workshops are intended to help beginning farmers establish and sustain viable agricultural operations through whole-farm planning.
The next workshop will run from noon to 5 p.m. February 23 at Rappahannock Community College’s Warsaw campus. The registration deadline is February 17. Register online at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Vhx-bGVhRq_UXpeSP_vHzdSGNfwox-oiNq7yN-dexHg/viewform?c=0&w=1 or call Patrick Johnson, 804-586-8280.
The workshops are free and open to the public, but participants must pre-register. This type of training is useful when applying for U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency beginning farmer loans and micro-loans.
