Frances Blackard Shelton

Mrs. Frances Blackard Shelton, age 79, of Stuart, Virginia completed this earthly journey on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at her home. She was born in Stokes County on March 12, 1944, to the late William Robertson and the late Claris Mae Shelton Doss. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Leon Shelton; and one grandson, Brandon Lee France. Frances was a bus driver for Patrick County Public School System for 43 years. Frances will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish the memories of Mrs. Shelton are two sons Derek Blackard (Melissa Blair) of Stuart, Virginia, Jimmy Blackard (Teri) of Rutherfordton, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Mandi Hall, Josh Easley, James Blackard, Mariah Easley, Allen Gray France, Roger Alan Blackard, Jacie Blackard; five great-grandchildren, TJ, Allana, Colton, Wyatt, Blakely; one sister, Betty Bullins of Lawsonville, North Carolina; several nieces; and many dear friends.

A memorial service for Mrs. Frances Shelton will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at the home, 2245 Big A School Road, Stuart, Virginia 24171. Mrs. Shelton will lie in state at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart on Friday, April 14, 2023, from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. for relatives and friends to pay their final respects. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is serving the Shelton family, and online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.

The family of Mrs. Frances Shelton would like to extend their sincere gratitude and their thanks to a few close friends who visited her during her last days, Pete Law, George Law, Rudy Rogers, Shirley Mabe, Nancy Lawson, Glenn Handy, and brother-in-law, Cecil Shelton.
