Mr. Gary Lawson Cockram, age 77 of Meadows of Dan, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023, at his home. He was born in Patrick County on November 28, 1945, to the late Arthur G. Cockram and Lois Edna Lawson Cockram. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald Cockram and Michael Cockram. Gary had been the Vocational Director at Galax High School and then taught horticulture at Carroll County High School. He was an F.F.A advisor and an alumni of Virginia Tech. He loved traveling and taking pictures.

Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Jennifer Cockram of Salem; a daughter, Dana Lynn Cockram and fiancé, Allen Turner of Onley; four grandchildren, Eric Melcher, Joseph Turner, Hartley Cockram, Addi Cockram; one brother and sisters-in-law, Garland and Margie Cockram of Woolwine, Ann Cockram of Meadows of Dan, Darlene Cockram of Meadows of Dan; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
