Gordon Kyle Bowling, age 71, died peacefully Sunday October 16, 2016, at 4:15 p.m. at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte, N.C. His death was due to organ and heart failure, caused by a recent diagnosis of stomach cancer.
He was a 1964 graduate of Woolwine High School.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Adrienne Bowling, two daughters, Allison Elizalde of Charlotte, and Ashley Andres of Indian Trail, N.C., his sister, Freeda Shelton of Ridgeway; brother, Harlow Bowling of Ridgeway; and five grandsons, plus many extended family and friends from his years at Mars Hill College (1964-1968), the Army (1969-1971), working as a postman for the United States Postal Service, teaching driver’s education for Jordan Driving School, and his many trips to the local grocery store.
He was a member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church.
The funeral service was held Saturday at Harmony Baptist Church in Matthews, N.C. Burial was in Shiloh ARP Church cemetery in Lancaster, S.C.
