James “Whick” Edwin Holt, age 77, of Stuart, died Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, N.C.
He was born in Patrick County on April 13, 1939 and was a son of the late Richard S. Holt and Audrey Gray Holt. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Rakes Holt; paternal grandparents, Jim Holt and Bertha Holt; and maternal grandparents, Edwin C. Gray and Delores Gray.
He is survived by his sister, Christie Holt of Stuart; two daughters, Rhonda Hammond and husband Jerry of Patrick Springs and Lynda L. Nichols of Martinsville; grandchildren, Tyler Mize, Andrew Mize, and Lindsey Nichols; great-granddaughter, Kendall Mize; and a nephew, Steven Smith.
A graveside service was held Monday in Patrick Memorial Gardens with Pastor David Heath officiating.
Jerry Hammond, Philip Holt, Bill Beasley, Tyler Mize, Andrew Mize, and Jimmy Odell served as pallbearers with Jerry Goins serving as an honorary pallbearer.
