James “J.W.” Waller Cockram

Mr. James “J.W.” Waller Cockram, age 81, of Stuart, Virginia passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. He was born in Patrick County on July 15, 1941, to the late Paul Cockram, Sr., and the late Mae Vaughan Cockram. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harmon Cockram, Paul Cockram, Jr.; and one niece, Janice Cockram Slumber. Mr. Cockram was a dedicated and faithful employee of the Rubber Thread plant for 41 years. He enjoyed NASCAR racing. J.W. was a loving brother, uncle, and a friend to all. Mr. Cockram will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish the fond memories of Mr. Cockram are a loving sister, Pauline Cockram Hutchens of Spencer, Virginia; one niece, Tammy Hutchens Cummings; three nephews, Danny Cockram, Otis Cockram, Steve Hutchens; and many special friends.

A Celebration of Life memorial service for Mr. Cockram will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Elder David Kamoda officiating. The burial will be private. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the memorial service at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations in memory of Mr. Cockram may be made to the Jack’s Creek Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Marena Hylton, 611 Elamsville Rd, Stuart, VA 24171. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is serving the Cockram family, and online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
