Joan Foley Forbes went to join the Lord on February 28, 2016.
She was 86 years young.
She was born in West Virginia on November 1, 1929. She married Clyde Lindberg Forbes in 1948 and they were married until his death in 2003. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Amos Foley and Cora Lee Cochran Foley.
She graduated as valedictorian from Woolwine High School and graduated from National Business College. She taught for a couple of years then finished her working life at Bassett Furniture Industries.
She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth (Libby) Forbes Cornwell, a son-in-law, Owen L. Cornwell III (Sandy) and her grandson, Victor Lindbergh Cornwell; and a brother, Glen E Foley.
Visitation and celebration of life will be at Ross Harbour United Methodist Church starting at 4 p.m. on March 23.
Memorials can be given to Ross Harbour United Methodist Church or Patrick County Alzheimer’s Association.
Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is assisting the family.
