Justin Robert Helms, 29, of Chesapeake, passed away suddenly Friday, July 15, 2016, in North Carolina.
He was a born on December 18, 1986 to Clayton L. Helms and Jodee E. McMillen.
Justin graduated as valedictorian from W.T. Sampson High School, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in 2005. In 2011 he graduated from Virginia Tech with degrees in civil engineering and construction engineering management. He was currently employed as a project manager for GET Solutions in Elizabeth City, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Coy Robert Helms.
Left to cherish his memories are his mother, Jodee E. McMillen and husband Clayton E. McMillen; father, Clayton L. Helms and wife Earlene S. Helms; five sisters, Amanda G. McMillen of Moyock, N.C., April R. Helms of Blacksburg, Alice R. Helms of Christiansburg, Crissie W. Snyder and Carla W. Pavon, both of Carrollton; two brothers, Nicholas E. McMillen of Syracuse, N.Y., and Ashley(Leroy) Whitehead of Portsmouth; grandparents, Evona B. Helms of Meadows of Dan, Sally G. Stalls, Gerald W. Stalls; and great-grandmother, Lula B Harris.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 21 from 6 to 8 p.m., at Oman Funeral Home, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. Services will take place on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Conners View Primitive Baptist Church, 3408 Mountain View Road, Meadows of Dan. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Local arrangements are by Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Conners View Cemetery Fund, 429 Woodland Drive, Stuart, VA 24171; or Meadows of Dan, Volunteer Fire and Rescue, 1368 Jeb Stuart Highway, Meadows of Dan, VA 24120.
