JV Softball team ends season with two wins

The Cougars got a 14-1 win in a well-pitched game over Dan River at home on Monday, May 9. 

Hayden Lawless went all 5 innings in the circle, striking out 6, walking 3, and giving up 1 unearned run. Journey Moore had 3 hits, including a triple and a double, with 3 runs scored and 3 RBIs. 

Aniya Penn had 3 hits including 2 doubles, 3 runs scored, and 3 RBIs. 

Bryley Pike had 3 hits, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBIs. 

Jayden Callahan had a triple and an RBI. 

Maria Turner had a double, 2 runs scored, and an RBI. 

Lawless and Kylee Joyce each had hits and an RBI. 

Lexi Cutchins and Kyleigh Gusler also had hits that night. 

The Cougars hosted Floyd, Wednesday, May 11, getting a 5-1 victory.  

Lawless pitched a stellar complete 7 inning game against the Lady Buffaloes. She struck out 7, walked none, and allowed only 3 hits with excellent control on the mound. 

Moore led at the plate with a consecutive game that included a triple, double, and a single with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. 

Pike and Lawless each had 2 hits and 2 runs scored. Joyce and Gusler both had RBIs on the night. Callahan and Turner also had hits.

The JV Lady Cougars finished the season with 15 and 3 record. The coaches thanked all the players for their effort, hard work, and positive attitudes that lead to the team’s success this year.
