The Patrick County High School Junior Varsity Volleyball team scored three victories this week.
On Monday, the JV team got revenge for last week’s loss by defeating Carroll County on the road in three sets–12-25, 26-24, and 15-11. Samantha Harris led the way with 3 kills and 3 aces. Elleigh Large and Abby Compton had 2 kills each. Lainie Hopkins led the team with 7 assists and Mackenzie Belcher added 9 digs for the Lady Cougars.
On Tuesday, the JV team had a dominating performance at Martinsville, defeating the Bulldogs in straight set, 25-7 and 25-5. Gracen Edwards scored 6 aces with Abbigail Epperson adding 5 aces. Hopkins had 8 assists and Large had 2 kills.
The Cougars hosted Magna Vista on Thursday and won in two sets 25-21 and 25-19. Samantha Harris led the team with 5 kills with Large and Compton adding 3 kills each.
Belcher had 6 digs, and Hopkins again led the team in assists with 14.
According to Coach Ashley Strickland, “Our matches this week really tested our unity as a team to work together in order to win against Carroll County, Martinsville, and Magna Vista. The girls have really come together in regards to completing each task that they faced from our opponents this week. It really makes us look forward to our season ahead.”
