WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5

COMMUNITY MEAL/BIBLE STUDY: community dinner, 6 p.m., Blackberry Baptist Church, 3241 Stones Dairy Rd., Bassett.

 

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 6

GREENTEAM CLEAN UP: volunteer to help clean up local roadways, Woolwine Highway towards Wood’s Cold Storage will be the selected area to clean up. Neon vests, bags, trash grabbers will be provided. Meet at 5:15 p.m. at Howell’s Grocery, 230 Woolwine Hwy, Stuart.

 

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 7

FARMERS MARKET: Tool sharpening *fee involved, locally grown produce, fruit, meats, eggs, baked items and more, 8 a.m. to noon, Stuart Farmers Market.

 

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 8

11TH ANNUAL CAR, BIKE & TRACTOR SHOW: check in at 8 a.m., judging at 11 a.m., classes include car/truck, bike, and tractor. $15 entry fee, call for multi-car discount. Fireman’s awards for top 15 cars and trucks, top 3 bikes, top 3 tractors and people’s choice. Door prizes for entries, DJ Music Mix, lunch and snacks available for purchase. RISE & SHINE YOUTH MARKET: come shop from local youth that have baked, grown, or created everything they sell. Items range from jewelry, fresh produce, soaps, baked goods, crafts, and much more. 9 a.m. to noon, Stuart Farmers’ Market.

FOLK TALES FAMILY DAY: celebrate American folk tales with live performances by Jack Tale Storytellers, crafts, and snacks; free admission; Jack Tale Storytellers perform at 11:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.; Piedmont Arts, 215 Starling Avenue, Martinsville.

COMMUNITY DAY: free hot dogs and drinks, free carwash, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Harvest Worship Center.

MOVIE ON THE MOUNTAIN: Jumanji, staring Dwayne Johnson, inflatables available at 7 p.m., movie begins at 8:30 p.m., bring your own seating, snacks available for purchase, free admission, Meadows of Dan Community Center.

BELCHER-BOYD REUNION: descendants of Robert and Indie Boyd Belcher, covered dish meal, 5 p.m., bring photos and memories to share, Wildlife Building in Woolwine.

 

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 9

WOOD REUNION:  descendants of Alexander and Jane Hopkins Wood, all relatives and friends invited, bring a picnic lunch, 10 a.m., Meadows of Dan Community Building, Meadows of Dan.

HUGHES FAMILY REUNION: the 42nd annual reunion, bring a covered dish lunch, all family and friends invited, 1 p.m., Hughes family picnic shelter on Trot Valley Rd.

 

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11

FARMERS MARKET: Tuesday market with locally grown items, 3 to 6 p.m., Stuart Farmers Market.

 

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 13

PATRICK COUNTY SENIORS MEETING: entertainment provided by One Accord, bring a side dish or dessert, 11 a.m., John D. Hooker Building, Rotary Field, Stuart. For more information, call (276) 694-3917.

 

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 14

COUNTRY BREAKFAST: pancakes, gravy, country ham, baked apples, sausage, homemade biscuits, bacon, eggs, coffee, orange juice, water.
