On July 4, 2016, Kelvin E. Handy, age 88, passed away in Sanford, Fla.
Kelvin was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Handy, his parents, Reynolds William Handy and Ola Matrice Cockram Handy, and his sister, Alma Morris Handy.
Born on March 14, 1928, he was a lifelong NASCAR fan.
Surviving are his five daughters, Wanda Ward, Sandra Eakin, Teresa Sherman, Lita Handy-Peters and Victoria Katenkamp; his brother, Cubert Handy; and his aunt, Zue Grissom.
A graveside service was held Saturday in the Woolwine Cemetery with Pastor Dewayne Troutt officiating.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Woolwine United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 74, Woolwine, Va., 24185 or to the Smith River Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 122, Woolwine, Va., 24185.
