Five members of the Lady Cougar Basketball Team were honored by the Piedmont District and the 2C Region. Sierra Hubbard was named 1st Team All Piedmont District and 1st Team All Region 2C player. Hubbard led the district with 21.4 points per game and a league leading 13.4 rebounds per game. She also led the region in scoring and rebounding. She surpassed 1,000 career points as a junior, even after missing several weeks due to an injury.

According to Coach Donnie Rakes, “She is simply on a very short list of the best to ever play in Patrick County.”

Logan McGhee (7.0 points and 6.4 rebounds per game) and Gracelyn Hubbard (3.8 assists and 2.9 steals per game) were both named as All Piedmont District Honorable Mention recipients.

Rakes said “Logan is a team leader, our only senior, and a threat down low. Gracelyn is a tenacious defensive player who is gritty and tough.”

Abby Dillon (8.1 rebounds per game and 96 blocked shots) and Missy Hazard (7.5 points and 2.5 assists per game and scored 56 three pointers this season) were named 2nd Team All Piedmont District.

“Abby changed games with her defense and had a really good year.  Missy is the best shooter I have seen as a freshman. She has a really bright future,” Rakes said.
