Mrs. Iris Williams Payne, age 86 of Stuart, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at the The Landmark Center in Stuart. She was born on May 31, 1933 in Patrick County to the late Dudley S. Williams and Bertha Mae Murphy Williams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Clarence Payne, Jr; two sisters, Lillian Carter, Helen Roberson; and two brothers, Jackson Williams and Earl Tosso Williams. Iris had lived in Richmond for over 50 years and owned a Christmas tree farm. She loved going to yard sales and working in her yard.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Ben Harris of Stuart; one son, Rodney Payne and fiancé, Kathy Wilhelm of Richmond; two step grandchildren, Judy Mays, Robby Harris; three step great-grandchildren, Michael Mays, Ashley Mays Mann, Austin Harris; four sisters, Opal Hughes, Sadie Martin, Nancy Hubbard, Barbara Morrison all of Stuart; two brothers, Clyde Williams of Stuart, Nash Williams and wife, Donna of Sparta, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held. Online condolences may be sent to www.moodyfuneralservices.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Patrick County Music Association, P.O. Box 1256, Stuart, VA 24171 or to the Jeb Stuart Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 340, Patrick Springs, VA 24133.
