We are having a great deal of trouble with phone service in the Meadows of Dan area. Due to the high volume of repairs, the company is giving repair estimates of 3-4 weeks.

Let me be clear, we must do without telephone and high speed internet service for up to four weeks! Since most of us have poor to no cell signals, this means that we literally get cut off from communication with the outside world. Please ponder that for a while and how it would completely disrupt your world.

The telephone and Internet provider cites the unusually high volume of outages as an excuse for the lengthy delays in restoring services. Surely they could pay some overtime, hire additional techs, or bring in help from other parts of their very large network. Their indifferent response to our problems is shocking.

This is a broader issue that affects the entire county. It affects the perception and desirability of Patrick County as a place that people would want to live. In fact, it makes the county somewhat of a joke.
