The County is broke! The BOS has been forced to borrow money to pay the light bill.

I call it suspense some might call it in the dark. Why have we heard not a word from those we elect and those we pay $200,000 to look out for our financial interest at the County government? I think it is well passed time. Don’t you?

Why are the citizens of Patrick County being kept in suspense about the dire financial condition of the County? The combined salaries of the County Administrator, Assistant County Administrator and Finance Officer exceed $200,000 per annum.

I think it is reasonable to expect that the Board of Supervisors would ask their high paid management staff to provide them with a detailed explanation. Why has the County been forced to secure a payday loan of $3,400,000. That is a lot of money for a County of our size.  To put that number into perspective it is almost 25 percent of the taxes the County collects from local sources. Real estate tax, sales tax, personal property tax.

More important we taxpayers should know what the plan is to fix this financial blunder!
