Lewis (Herman) Spencer, 69, of Martinsville, died Thursday, July 7, 2016, at his home.
He was born November 23, 1946, in Martinsville and was a son of the late Orris E. and Ruth Watkins Spencer. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald L. Spencer.
He was a Vietnam veteran who served in the United States Army and retired as an information technologist from Schenker Logistics in 2009. He was of the Christian faith.
Surviving are his wife, Gail Horsley Spencer of the home; one daughter, Lindsey Walker of Martinsville; two sons, Lewis Scott Spencer of Bassett and Ryan O’Neil Spencer of Horsepasture; three sisters, Sylvia Spencer Lewis of Martinsville, Patricia Spencer of Bassett, and Phyllis Spencer Smith of Woodleaf, N.C.; two brothers, Alfred D. Spencer of Martinsville and Alvin R. Spencer of Woolwine; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Community Funeral Services in Ridgeway with burial at Mt. View Cemetery, Ridgeway. Pastor Gary Martin officiated. Military honors were presented by the Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Honor Guard.
