Margaret Jean Eaton Young

Mrs. Margaret Jean Eaton Young, age 93 of Ararat, Virginia passed away at Northern Hospital in Mount Airy, North Carolina on Saturday, October 15, 2022. She was born in Surry County on April 16, 1929, to the late Roy Roscoe Eaton and Vera Bowman Eaton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Cecil “Claude” Jackson Young; great granddaughter, Quinn Brooklyn Davis; three sisters, Georgia Edwards, Betty Johnson, and Janice Collins; three brothers, Roscoe Eaton, Roger Eaton, and Terry Eaton; and one sister-in-law, Effie Eaton. Jean enjoyed sewing beautiful clothing, embroidering, “Food & Fun”, and being with family and friends. She loved to “flat foot” dance and listen to old time music. She was a devoted wife to her husband of almost 61 years, Claude; and a loving mother to her children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Young is survived by six children, Wade Leon Young (Karen), Rita Gale Y. Cruise, Frankie Young Easter (Kenneth), Paulette Y. Hunter (Jeff), Paul E. Young, and Cecil Jay Young (Kari); grandchildren, Alex Young, Amanda Cruise, Shane Cruise, Brittany Burchette, and Paige Hunter; great-grandchildren, Lydia, Adrian, and Devin; one sister, Eva Wyatt, three brothers; Noel Eaton, Dillard Eaton (Ann), and Clayton Eaton (Val) and special caregiver, Debora Kern.

A graveside service for Mrs. Young will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the Nathaniel Young Family Cemetery (located near 2412 Raven Rock Road, Ararat, VA 24053) with Pastor Monte Mitchell. The family will receive friends after the service at the homeplace. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ararat Rescue Squad, 4711 Ararat Highway, Ararat, VA 24053. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart has been entrusted with the services and online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
