Maxine Edwards Handy, 77, of Stuart, died on Sunday, November 6, 2016, at Blue Ridge Rehab in Martinsville
She was born on June 9, 1939 and was a daughter of the late Docia Hawks and Jesse G Edwards. She was also preceded in death by her son, William Lee Handy Jr.; and two sisters, Barbara Hopkins and Elaine Gardner. She worked at Bassett Walker until she retired. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving are her husband, William “Bill” Handy Sr. of the home; two daughters, Beverly Crews of Eden, N.C., and Lori Fox of Martinsville; one son, David M. Handy of Fargo, N.D.; three sisters, Catherine Bell of Bassett, Ethelyne Nelson of Spencer, and Eldean Campbell of Martinsville; two brothers; James F. Edwards of Stuart and Douglas Edwards of Bassett; and five grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Patrick Memorial Gardens with Pastor Mark Parkinson officiating. Memorials may be made to: Patrick County Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Paul Edward Justus, 76, of Claudville, died Tuesday November 1, 2016, at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, N.C.
He was born in Henderson County, N.C., on June 30, 1940 to the late Paul Cody and Jesse Sue Haydock Justus.
He was a retired supervisor from Dupont.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Justus of the home; one daughter, Cynthia Danielson of Mill Spring, N.C., a son, Paul Randall Justus of Rockwood, Tenn.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bud Justus of Henderson, N.C.
There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home although friends and family are welcome to visit the home at 243 Cox Ridge Rd., Claudville, VA 24076
The family has requested that donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
