Michael Henry Gilley

Michael Henry Gilley passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 14, 2026.

He was born to the late Willie D. “Bill” Gilley and Carleen Gilley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Willie “Bo” Gilley, Jr.; his sister, Peggy Plasters; and his brothers-in-laws, Ralph Plasters, Ronnie Hyton, and Bill Leonard.

Michael was a hardworking and devoted family man. He was highly skilled in fence building, welding, and farming, and he was well respected and thought of within his community. His dedication to his work and his love for his family were evident in all that he did.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Iva Sue Gilley; his daughter, Angela Gilley; and his son, Antonio Christopher Gilley.  He also leaves to cherish his memory his granddaughters, Aryanna Lopp, Jazmine Gilley, Brooklyn Gilley, Alexis Azzara, and Tesia Spencer; and his grandsons, Brayden Gilley and Christopher Gilley.

Michael is survived by his sisters, Margaret Leonard and Barbara Sue McArthur; his special brother-in-law, Bobby McArthur; and Brenda Hylton.  He is also remembered by his nieces and nephews: Bryan Hylton (Amanda), Donna Fisher (Mark), Teresa Spencer (Tommy), Mike Plasters (Sandi), Glenn Leonard, Jimmy Clifton (Pat), Steven Clifton (Donna), and Christopher (Brittany), along with extended family members and friends who were touched by his life.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at 3:00pm at Salem Church with Pastor John Franklin officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  A fellowship meal will be served after the service.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Salem Church, 159 Salem Church Rd, Patrick Springs, Virginia or a charity of your choice.
