Mr. James “Jim” Gary Newman

Mr. James “Jim” Gary Newman, age 58 of Patrick Springs, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. He was born in Patrick County on July 27, 1963 to the late Gary Gene Newman and Martha Ann Martin of Stuart. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Brian David Newman; and his grandmother, Cubie Martin. Jim was a member of MorningStar Fellowship in Ft. Mill, SC and had served at Harvest Worship Center for 32 years. Being a licensed minister, Jim did a lot of mission work in Panama, Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago, as well as inner city missions in places such as New York City. He was a superintendent with Virginia Department of Transportation where he’s been employed for over 29 years. He was the President of CMA Chapter Dragon Slayers. He was a black belt in American Freestyle Karate and had his own studio in Stuart. Jim never met a stranger, loved people, he loved his family and loved his Lord.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife of 34 years, Teresa “Teri” Gibbs Newman of the home; one son, James Gabriel Newman of Patrick Springs; one brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Jennifer Newman of Patrick Springs; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jason and Tanya Gibbs of Stuart; his special nieces, Lacey N. Harbour and husband, Chris, Jessica N. Hutchens and husband, Patrick; a special aunt, Charlotte Prillaman; and several other special family members.

A Celebration of Life will be held December 11, 2021, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Reynolds Homestead, 463 Homestead Lane, Critz, VA 24082. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart has been entrusted with the arrangements and online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.

    So very sad to hear the news of “Jimbo’s” passing. He was truly and amazing person. Prayers to Teresa & his children & the rest of his Family. Flying high on that mountain. Home at last!!
