Mr. Michael Joe Carter, age 64, of Stuart passed away Monday, August 10, 2020 at Sovah Health of Martinsville.  He was born in Patrick County on June 9, 1956 to the late Dump Carter and Beatrice Webster Carter.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sebenzile S. Carter; and one sister, Nancy Pride.  Michael had worked at Masonite for many years.

Surviving are a son, Michael Hairston of Stuart; a daughter, Lynn Hatcher of Mt. Airy, NC; a step-daughter, Pauline Hairston of Martinsville; four granddaughters, JaQuassia Hatcher, Kanisha Goolsby, Taja Manns, A’miyah Hairston; four step grandchildren, Kaleeya, Ja’Keese, Ti’Heem, and A’meeriyah Hairston; one great grandson, Xavier Hatcher; two brothers, Benny Carter and James A. “Moochie” Carter both of Stuart; and several nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held.  Friends may come by Moody Funeral Home in Stuart on Thursday, August 13, 2020 from 12 to 5 to pay their respects.  Online condolences may be sent to www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
