Mr. Wakley Freddie Phillips

  Mr. Wakley Freddie Phillips, age 74, of Claudville, Virginia passed away Thursday, August 13, 2020, at his home.  He was born in Floyd County on January 22, 1946, to the late Mason Phillips and Ivah Mae Quesenberry Phillips. He had volunteered with Meadows of Dan Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad; he was a charter member for both.  He loved to trout fish, work on tractors and loved being Pops to his grandson.

        Surviving are his wife, Linda Kay Scott Phillips of the home; one son, Jimmy Wakley Phillips of Meadows of Dan; one grandson, Dylan Wakley Phillips of Meadows of Dan; two step-sons, David Niten of Asheboro, North Carolina and Chris Pack of Mount Airy, North Carolina; six step-grandchildren, Brandon Pack, Ben Pack, Anna Pack, Michael Pack, Stephanie Niten, and Alyssa Niten; one step-great-grandson, Coalson Pack; two brothers, Cleston Phillips of Woolwine, and Roger Phillips of Meadows of Dan; and several nieces and nephews.

        A graveside service will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. in Lewis Family Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Meadows of Dan Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, P.O.
