Mr. Wilbur Akers Scott

Mr. Wilbur Akers Scott, age 87, of Stuart, Virginia passed at Salem Veteran Affairs Medical Center on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. He was born in Patrick County on March 1, 1934, to the late Luther Scott and Annice Foley Scott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings, Brewster Luther Scott, Eunice Scott Synan, Richard Lee Scott, Arnold Lewis Scott, and Phyllis Scott Hanchey.  Mr. Scott faithfully served in the United States Army.  He appreciated the outdoors.  Wilbur enjoyed a lifetime of hunting and fishing, driving around the country with his wife and taking in all the scenery and appreciating God’s wonderful work.  He loved working in the garden and making wonderful homemade pickles that he liked sharing with family and friends.

      

    Mr. Scott is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Arlene Harris Scott; one daughter, Nadine Cobb and husband, Ronald of Reidsville, North Carolina; one grandson, Brent Rogers and wife, Ashley of Elon, North Carolina; two great grandchildren, Jonah Rogers and Evie Rogers; three brothers, Cecil Scott of Stuart, Elliott Scott and wife, Debra of Penhook, Virginia, and Greene Lloyd Scott of Martinsville; one sister, Elaine Scott of Rocky Mount, Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

        

  Funeral Services for Mr. Scott will be held Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Pastor Kenneth Terry officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the Foley Family Cemetery. Military Rites will be provided by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home Saturday afternoon.
