Mrs. Gladys Fleming Dawson, 95, of Ararat, VA, went to be with the Lord on December 25, 2020. She was born September 23, 1925, to the late James Monroe and Daisy Mayberry Fleming.   She and her late husband of 60 years, Harry Dawson, served the Lord through music. She was a member and a pianist at Crooked Oak Moravian Church. She loved teaching music, fishing with Harry, and making flower arrangements. Her many talents included sewing, quilting, crocheting, cooking, canning, and baking, all of which she shared with family and friends. She was retired from Proctor Silex Corp.   Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Carole and Leonard Easter, Dorothy and Warren Hall, and Janet and Phil Scales; seven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nevvie Brooks.

Mrs. Dawson was preceded in death by a sister, Ima Collins, brothers Howard, Wade, and Doug Fleming, two half-sisters, Virginia Chandler and Florence Hiatt, and three half-brothers, Glen, Jesse, and James Fleming.   Due to health concerns at this time, there will not be a formal visitation, although everyone is welcomed to pay their respect at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 during regular business hours.  The family will be having a private graveside service.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Crooked Oak Moravian Church, c/o Linda Easter, 76 Flower Gap Rd., Cana, VA 24317.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
