Mrs. Patsy Penelope Owens Slate, age 87 of Claudville, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at her home.  She was born in Patrick County on July 28, 1933 to the late Burke Owens and Ethel May Rorrer Owens.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Slate was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Nathan Slate.  She was a longtime resident of Patrick County with her childhood home being in Stuart, Virginia.  She was a graduate of Stuart High School.  Patsy loved to take care of her husband and her family.  She was well known for her love of life, her big heart, her warm smile, and her famous potato salad.  She was musically inclined and had a soft spot for animals.  She never met a stranger and always had a place in her heart for the needy.

Mrs. Slate is survived by three children, Nathan Keith Slate (Lisa) of Lawton, Oklahoma, Anita Ann Hechtman of Boulder, Colorado, Patrick Clifford Slate (Alicia) of Claudville; six grandchildren, Caleb Hechtman, Lauren Slate Downs (Tyler), Heather Slate Quinlan (Scott), Matthew Slate (Tara), Daniel Slate, Alli Stanley; and one great-granddaughter, Rogue Scarlett Downs.

A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Slate Family Cemetery.  Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is handling the arrangements, and online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
