 Mrs. Phyllis Annette Wood Hubbard

Mrs. Phyllis Annette Wood Hubbard, age 84 of Stuart, passed away Friday, August 27, 2021 at her home.  She was born in Patrick County on March 18, 1937 to the late Murray Wood and Lillian Annabell Cockram Wood.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hubbard was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Sherman Edgar Hubbard, and three sisters, Glenda Wilkinson, Myrna Swiney and Cheryl Dunlap.  She received a business degree from Averett College and was a member of Minnie’s Chapel Wesleyan Church.  She was raised on a farm in Meadows of Dan and worked at Stuart Drug Store where she met her husband, Sherman.  She worked as a personnel manager in Human Resources at United Elastic Corporation, where she retired with 42 years of service.  She had a beautiful smile and infectious laughter.  She will be remembered as a loving Wife, Mama, and Nanny.

Mrs. Hubbard is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Revonda and Kenneth Anderson of Stuart, Pam Hubbard of Stuart; seven grandchildren, Jeremiah Morris, Amber M. Tankersley (Jeff), Jay Anderson, Amanda A. Hall (Kevin), Breanna Hubbard, Ryan Hubbard (Natalia), Bryce Hubbard; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Maynard and Jeanette Wood of Ridgeway; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service for Mrs. Hubbard will be held Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Alex Cockram Family Cemetery with Pastor Gary Combs officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 730 East Church Street, Suite 13, Martinsville, Virginia 24112.  Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is in charge of the arrangements, and online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
