Mrs. Ruby Carter Belcher, age 80 of Bassett, went home to her Lord and Savior on April 29, 2021.  She was born on December 28, 1940, in Henry County to the late Willie “Lum” Carter and Ella Mae Myers Carter.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Belcher; and one brother, Lindsey Carter.  She was a member of Faith Fellowship in Bassett.

Surviving is her sister, Doris Ashburn of Spencer; stepchildren, Susan, Sharon, Sherry, Sheila, and their families; special nieces, Renae Wagoner, Jennifer Carter; nephew, Jeff Carter; as well as special sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law on both the Carter and Belcher sides that were always there to help her; and her Belcher nieces and nephews.  She loved them all as well as her dear friends.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Freddie Bonds officiating.  Due to Covid and weather conditions, the family asks that everyone dress casual.  Burial will be private.  The family would like to thank her caregivers from Mountain Valley Hospice and the nurses on the West Wing at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection who took special care of her and went out of their way to take care of family needs as well.  Online condolences may be sent to www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
