Mrs. Nelda Hazelwood Hutchens, age 81 of Patrick Springs, VA, passed away June 14, 2022. She was born on June 16, 1940, to the late Richard Irvin and Essie Newman Hazelwood of the Big A Section of Patrick County. She was a long-time member of the Big A Church of Christ.
Nelda is survived by son, Tim Hutchens and daughter-in-law, Leatha of Stuart, VA; daughter, Lynn Couch and son-in-law, Chad Sr. of Bristol TN; four grandchildren, Julia Hutchens, Abby Hutchens Perry and husband Nathan, Chad Couch, Jr, Tucker Couch; Sister, Frances Hazelwood Martin of Patrick Springs; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Nelda’s lifelong interests were cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family. The highlight of her year was the annual family beach trip. The love she shared with her family will live on through their lifetimes.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 19, 2022, at 2 PM at Moody Funeral Home and Chapel with Pastors Allen Caudle and Sam Crews officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
