LEE HUNDLEY ADKINS
Lee Hundley Adkins, 85, was born on Field Avenue in Fieldale to the late Nannie Lou Stone Hundley and the late Leo Frank Hundley. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, David Oliver Adkins; son, Bobby L. Adkins; three brothers, Kenneth Hundley ,Gary Hundley and Johnny Hundley; and sister, Jean Harrison.
She was active in WMU Work serving as GA Director in the Henry County Baptist Association. She served as a volunteer counselor with youth groups at Eagle Eyrie Baptist Conference Center in Lynchburg and at the Association Campground at Patrick Springs; she was a Cub Scout Den Mother. She grew up attending Fieldale Baptist Church and was a Charter Member of the newly organized Villa Heights Baptist Church in 1960 where she, her husband and twin sons lived at the time.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Billy J. Adkins and wife Lynda, of Collinsville; daughter-in-law, Ann Adkins, of Fieldale; four grandchildren, Meagan, Sara, Will and Elizabeth Adkins; great-granddaughter, McKenzie Menefee, of Collinsville; two sisters, Reva Pulliam, of Kernersville, N.C., and Bonnie Griffith, of Collinsville; three brothers, Frank Hundley, of Danville, R.B. Hundley, of Patrick County, and Leo Hundley, of Johnson City, Tenn.; special sister-in-law, Christine Adkins, of Collinsville. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2018, at Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 21, 2018, at Fieldale Baptist Church with the Rev. Allen Jackson officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Burial Park.

JACKIE ORENE FAIN

ackie Orene Fain, age 45, of Stuart, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at VCU Medical Center. She was born in Patrick County on June 12, 1973, to Charlie Fain and Carol Boothe Fain. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Grady and Orene Lawson Boothe; and paternal grandparents, James Irvin and Nancy Emma Handy Fain. She was employed by Davenport Energy. She will be remembered as a kind and loving, mother, daughter, cousin, aunt and friend.
She is survived by one son, Bailey Fain, of Stuart; and her parents, Charlie and Carol Boothe Fain.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at New Hope Church of the Brethren with Pastor Mike Varner and Pastor Rick Randall officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. BISHOP JAMES S. REYNOLDS
Bishop James S. Reynolds, age 92, of Patrick Springs, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 13, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Patrick County on March 2, 1926, to the late Roosevelt Reynolds and Ellen Cobb Reynolds. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Clanton Reynolds; his second wife, Rosie Lee King Reynolds; one daughter, Judy R. Hagwood; one grandson, James W. Reynolds; one granddaughter, Lisa Clark; son-in-law, Douglas Hylton; and five brothers, Theodore, Oscar, Loir, Moir, and David Reynolds.
He had faithfully served in the United States Army. He was committed to ministry for almost 55 years with 52 years preaching at Mt. Nebo True Gospel Holiness Church. One of his many favorite verses is “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13. He was a man of great faith, who served the Lord with his heart, mind and body. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
Left to cherish the memory of Bishop James Reynolds, are his six children, James T. Reynolds (Jane), of Patrick Springs, Julius A. Reynolds (Barbara), of Stuart, Doris Hylton, of Patrick Springs, Nannie S. Clark, of Patrick Springs, Thelma Clark (Wayne), of Patrick Springs, and Brogie H. Reynolds, of Patrick Springs; a son-in-law, Joe Hagwood, of Patrick Springs; one special daughter, Sam Chuk Reynolds, of Maryland; two step-daughters, Florence Green and Mary Alice Moore, both of Mount Airy, N.C.; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; one brother, Willie Reynolds, of Patrick Springs; three sisters, Thelma Hairston, of Stuart, Frances Clanton, of Critz, and Virginia Mattox, of Stuart; a great host of nieces and nephews.
MAUREEN RUSSIAN
Maureen Russian recently passed away and went to be with her Savior after an extended illness. She was a resident of Corvallis, OR and was 82 years old.
She was born in Meadows of Dan, and received her training as a registered nurse at Lewis-Gale Hospital School of Nursing in Roanoke, where she received the Thackeray Award for the best all-around student. After graduation, she practiced nursing in Virginia, Florida, West Virginia, Texas, Arizona and California, specializing in labor and delivery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave Russian; her parents, Tom and Goldie Agee; and her brother, Jack.
She moved to Corvallis to be close to her daughter’s family, and served as a generous, kind and thoughtful mother and grandmother for many years. Her children and grandchildren have many happy memories of spending time in her home, enjoying snacks, holiday meals, stories and watching many sporting events. Maureen was also an ardent fan and cheerleader for her grandchildren in all their many activities.
She is survived by her daughter Katherine; son-in-law David; stepdaughter Nancy;
grandchildren Andrew, Grace, Calvin and Patrick; sister Carol; and sister-in-law, Evelie.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Corvallis, PEO, and Benton County Republican Women.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Corvallis on Saturday, September 29 at 1:30 P.M.
VELDA MAE BELCHER BOYD SMART
Velda Mae Belcher Boyd Smart, age 81, of Woolwine, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2018, at Stanleytown Health Care and Rehab. She was born in Patrick County on February 27, 1937, to the late Landis Greely Belcher and Nancy Conner Belcher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, George Everett Boyd; her second husband, Leon Smart; one grandson, David Neal Boyd; step-daughter, Sandra Spangler; and three brothers, John, Leonard, and Delmer Belcher. She was a longtime member of Buffalo Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandma, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Rodney Leon Boyd and wife, Mary, of Bassett, and Gerald Everett Boyd and wife, Mandy, of Woolwine; three step-children, Pamela S. Young, of Ararat, Michael Leon Smart, of Kernersville, N.C., and Kimberly Dione Smart, of Martinsville; seven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; three sisters, Stella Conner, of Woolwine, Mary Conner, of Fieldale, and Evadell Clark, of Fieldale; one brother, Maynard Belcher, of Stuart; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Monday, September 17, 2018, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Pastor Kenneth Terry officiating. Burial was in Patrick Memorial Gardens. LILLIAN CONNER TURNER
Lillian Conner Turner, age 92, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 15, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Posey J. and Mae Moran Conner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph W. Turner; four brothers, Dr. M.C. “Cal” Conner, P.C. Conner, Leonard Conner, Moir Conner; and a great grandson, Jesse Sheppard.
After attending National Business College, she held various positions including secretary at the law firm of Rush and Gentry in Roanoke; Clerk of the Trial Justice Court of Patrick County; secretary to the Chief Engineer, U.S. Steel operations in Gary, WV; and secretary, then Purchasing Clerk at J.P. Stevens, Woolwine, retiring with 26 years there.
She was a member of the Woolwine United Methodist Church where she was active in various church organizations, serving of 40 years as secretary of the Administrative Council. She was a charter member of the Woolwine Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for over 25 years.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Benny Wood and Stephanie and Terry Martin; three granddaughters, Wendy Sheppard, Alison Martin and husband, Kyle, Katie Bowman and husband, Michael; two grandsons, Justin Wood, Wesley Martin and wife, Kellie; eight great grandchildren; one step great grandchild; two great great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, a centurion, Lucy Conner; four nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held (today) Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Woolwine United Methodist Church with Pastor Mary Sue Terry officiating. Burial will follow in the Woolwine Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
