The Patrick County School Board learned the school division was awarded National Beta District of Distinction for the 2025-26 school year during its Aug. 13 meeting.
Schools Superintendent Dr. Jason Wood said this is the third consecutive year the division has received the award.
“This shows the tremendous amount of great students we have and the hard work our staff puts into making sure our students have extracurricular activities beyond just the normal academics. Our students do so well in the competitions that the state has at the national level,” he said.
Wood said pictures of students competing in Beta events will be shown to the board at its Sept. 10 meeting.
In other matters, the board:
*Heard the superintendent’s report.
*Approved the consent agenda as presented.
*Approved the GDQ-R policy updates.
*Tabled selecting the Virginia School Board Association delegate and alternate delegate until the Sept. 10 meeting.
*Approved the personnel report as amended.
