Four schools in Patrick County have earned achievement awards from the state Board of Education.

Blue Ridge Elementary School and Patrick Springs Primary School received the 2019 Board of Education’s Highest Achievement Exemplar Award, Hardin Reynolds Memorial School received the 2019 Board of Education’s Continuous Improvement Award and Woolwine Elementary School received the 2018-2019 Virginia Index of Performance Board of Education Distinguished Achievement Award.

The state Board of Education recognized 235 schools in total. Of the recognized schools 52 earned the Board of Education Highest Achievement Award and 183 schools earned the Board of Education Continuous Improvement Award.

“I congratulate the principals, teachers, support staff and students of all of these schools for the academic successes and hard work these awards represent,” Superintendent of Public Instruction James Lane said.

Schools must earn a state accreditation rating of Accredited and meet a number of benchmarks to earn the Board of Education Highest Achievement Award. They must earn a state accreditation rating of Accredited or Accredited with Conditions, and meet at least one benchmark to earn Board of Education Continuous Improvement Award.
