The PCHS Cross-Country Middle School and High School teams competed at the Hagan Stone Classic Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 5 in Pleasant Garden, N.C. It was hosted by Southwest Guilford High School.

Brandon Rohrbach led the Cougar men with a time of 20:26.76 and Jacob Betancourt had a time of 23:28.33. In the women’s race, Katie Brintle ran a 22:12.79, Chloie Wright had a time of 24:49.09, and Irene Smith finished in 24:55.03.  In the Middle School Boys race, Moises Cisneros and Easton Harris finished 7th and 13th, respectively, out of a field of 111 runners. The middle school team finished 6th out of 13 teams.

Coach Daniel Slaydon said, “The high school runners raced a 5k (3.1 miles). Everyone ran personal best times or very close to their personal best times this weekend. This gets us excited to know we are headed in the right direction with our fitness and excitement to compete. The boys middle school runners raced a 4k (2.5 miles) and had great performances across the board. The 4km distance was a new for everyone racing, and they handled the extra half mile wonderfully. It was against stiff competition and they stepped up to the challenge. We were very pleased with everyone’s effort and performances. We have four more weeks to keep the ball rolling and continue getting better until the Piedmont District Championships.”

The next high school race will be hosted by Magna Vista at the Smith River Sports Complex on October 22.
