The Patrick County Varsity Boys’ Soccer team was hosted by Northside High School on May 23.

Tension filled the field, with both teams battling for a secured spot in the Regional Tournament. The Cougars were ready to play ball, scoring a goal within the first ten minutes of the game. Northside managed to score four points and put the half time score at 4-1.

The Cougars continued to keep pace and applied pressure to the opposing team throughout the second half of the game. With the game nearing an end, Northside scored the last goal and put the final score at 5-1. “We were able to play with Northside and create opportunities for shots on goal,” Head Coach Oscar Tejeda said. “If we could’ve contain the set piece goals, it would’ve been a much tougher match.” He said his team hustled and added he is preparing for the future of the Cougars. “I just want to finish and say I’m proud of this group and how competitive we were. We are going to miss our seniors, but it doesn’t stop here,” he said, “We will be back smarter, stronger, and ready to continue to compete.”
