The Patrick County High School golf team competed at Gordon Trent Golf Course on Tuesday, August 14. Patrick County placed third among all Piedmont District schools.
Franklin County won the match with a score of 300, and Halifax finished in second place with 307. Patrick County came in with a score of 309 to take third place. Magna Vista, Tunstall, and Bassett respectively claimed the next three spots.
The Cougars were led by Wesley Diggs with a final score of 73. Jarrod Burnette had a final score of 75, Daniel Smith ended with a score of 79, with Luke Jessup following with an 82.
“This was a great team score for us today,” said coach Philip Stegall. “I’m looking for good things ahead in the season goes along from these young men.”
The Cougars were scheduled to play on Tuesday, August 21 and are scheduled to play again on Monday, August 27. See future editions of The Enterprise for results.
