PC’s Thompson, McGhee qualify for national championship

Several members of the Patrick County High School Fishing Team competed in the BASSMASTERS high school state championship at Occoneechee State Park-Kerr Lake in Clarksville, Virginia April 30-May 1.    Representing the PCHS Fishing Team in the Junior division were Eli Wood and Evan Wood; Will Heath and Chace Handy. Representing the team in the Senior division were David Bryant and Zach Heath; Nash Thompson and Gavin McGhee; Ethan Hubbard and Noah Jessup; Parker Roop and Evan Havens; Devin Walker and Jake Caine. Nash Thompson and Gavin McGhee for reeled in 25.15 lbs. during the two-day tournament.   Thompson and McGhee qualified for Nationals and will compete in the Bassmaster High School National Championship at Lake Hartwell, S.C. in August, accompanied by their boat captain, Scottie Thompson. They were one of the teams that placed in the top three in state tournament final standings.  Nash and Gavin, along with four other anglers respectively from Ringgold and Blue Mountain teams, will represent Virginia in the National tournament.  All of the efforts of the boat captains, parents, sponsors, and volunteers are appreciated.
