The Ararat Ruritan Club will be 70 years old in January and club members are planning an anniversary celebration. This community event is scheduled for Saturday, January 7, from 2 – 5 p.m. at the club building, located at 4711 Ararat Highway in Ararat, VA.

Ruritan National President Glenn Broadwater will be attending, an awards presentation is scheduled, along with cake and refreshments.

The club was sponsored by the Critz Ruritan Club and was chartered on January 9, 1953, with 29 members, made up primarily of local farmers. The club currently has 39 members who pledge to support urban and rural communities in times of stress and need through fellowship, goodwill and community service.

The Ararat Ruritan Club members invite all former members and their relatives so they can be recognized for their part in keeping Ararat a better community in which to work and to live. Members of the Ararat community and beyond are also invited to join in this landmark celebration.
