Volunteers pose with the subs they made Saturday night.

Providence United Methodist Church in Patrick Springs held its annual Super Sub Sunday on Super Bowl Sunday.

This year was the 25th year for the sub event. Many county charities and individuals as well as the church have benefited from this event through the years.

About 25 youth and adults gathered Saturday night to wrap 350 sub buns with meats and cheeses. Then extra bags were packed with lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. Finally, all were topped off with chips.

After a few hours of work the group ended the evening with a delicious spaghetti meal and desserts.

Due to the extra orders, more subs were made on Sunday bringing the final total to about 450 subs prepared and ready for pickup Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
Thanks go to Stuart Rotary for allowing Providence to cater its February meeting with the subs.

Money collected from this sale will go to community missions, paving the church parking lot and the youth group.

Organizers thank all who supported the event this year and ask that everyone please come back and order again next year. Church volunteers say it has been a wonderful 25 years and they hope for 25 more.
