Recent arrests reported by county sheriff

Patrick County Sheriff Dan Smith reported the following arrests:

• Jay Thomas Goins, 26, of Stuart, was charged Jan. 30 with two counts of operating a motor vehicle with a revoked or suspended license; one count each of false identity to a law enforcement officer, forgery of public records and failure to appear. The arrest was made by Sgt. L.E. Cassady.
• Stacey Rae Biggs, 23, of Stuart, was charged Jan. 30 with two counts of obtaining money or property by false pretense; one count each credit card larceny – take/obtain number and identity theft. Deputy M.T. Rorrer made the arrest.
• Brandon Jude Riley, 36, of North Augusta, S.C., was charged Feb. 2 with breaking/entering and grand larceny. Deputy Faith Hubbard made the arrest.
• Melba Sue Thomas, 53, of Spencer, was charged Feb. 3 with assault on a family member. Deputy C. Gilbert made the arrest.
• Denise Newman, 42, of Ararat, was charged Feb. 3 with assault on a family member. Deputy Winfred Hill made the arrest.
• Eddie Lee Medlin Jr., 33, of Sandy Ridge, N.C., was charged Feb. 5 with revocation of probation. Deputy J.G. Pickerel made the arrest for Henry County. Medlin was also charged with reckless driving: speed in excess of 80 mph, and driving without a license. Deputy J.G. Pickerel made the arrest.
