Red Bank Ruritans honor baseball team; donate to soup kitchen

he Red Bank Rockets were recognized for their undefeated baseball season.

The Red Bank Ruritan Club met on June 3 and had a spaghetti dinner to honor the Red Bank Rockets baseball team from Blue Ridge Elementary School, the coaches and parents, recognizing their undefeated season.

Also present was guest Van Rowe from the Patrick Springs Soup Kitchen. A check was presented to him for a $50 contribution.

Also at the meeting, the Red Bank Ruritans voted to make community contributions as follows: two Tom Downing Scholarship awards in the amount of $500 each; two college scholarship awards in the amount of $500 each to Cheyenne Epperson and Anna Hayes; Patrick County Food Bank contribution of $50; benefit contribution to Crystal McBride in the amount of $250; Ruritan Summer Youth Camp contribution of $200; and a donation to the Ararat Rescue Squad of $250.

The group also made detailed plans for the upcoming Kibler Valley River Run scheduled for July 29.

The Ruritans are also planning for a Bike Ride for The Kids on the second Saturday in September. This project is to benefit needy kids at Christmas.
