Richard Thomas Catron, 74, of Critz and formerly of Bassett, died Saturday, March 19, 2016, at his daughter’s residence.
He was born on January 15, 1942 in Welch, W.Va., and was a son of the late James Theodore Catron and the late Sally Jane Goodson Catron. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Hatcher Catron; and a sister, Mildred Reed.
He worked for Bassett Chair for 20 years, Bassett Mirror as a supervisor for 20 years, and also worked at Mike’s Medical Transport for three years. He worked all his life from early years until around he was 68.
Surviving are his sons, Robert Wayne Catron of Bassett, and Ricky Dean Catron of Collinsville; daughter, Donna Catron Clifton of Critz; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Cecelia Conklin of Ridgeway, Patricia Hildman of Abington, Martha Wyatt of Patrick Springs and Darlene Gibson of Columbus, Ga.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Mark Wright and Glenn Leonard officiating. Burial will follow the service at County Line Church of God of Prophecy cemetery.
Donations can be made to Mountain Valley Hospice at 18981 Jeb Stuart Highway, Stuart, Va. 24171.
