Mr. Ronnie C. Rakes, age 80 of Patrick Springs, passed away Monday, May 29, 2023, at Novant Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born in Patrick County to the late Clyde Thomas Rakes and Catherine Cannady Rakes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Norman Rakes (Shelby), Bernard Rakes (Bobbi), and Fred Rakes (Lucy). Ronnie was a retired welder and member of the Boilermakers Union.  He attended Mt. View Church of God of Prophecy. He was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially in the mountains. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Surviving is his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara Clark Rakes of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Angie R. and Jason Brown of Stuart, Lisa R. and Eric Sheppard of Stuart; four grandchildren, Jonathan Woods, Meredith Law, Lauren Brown, Jared Brown; one brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Carolyn Rakes of Powhatan; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Tom Warren officiating. Burial will follow in the Rakes Family Cemetery off Poplar Camp Rd. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
