Ruth Y. Minnich, 99, of 808 Piney Creek School Rd., Piney Creek, N.C., died at her home on January 10, 2016, surrounded by family.
She was born in Carroll County on August 5, 1916, and was a daughter of the late Benjamin C. and Valeria McMillian Young. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Ernest Minnich; brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnnie S. and Mattie T. Young, of Ararat, Ceba B. and Minnie D. Young, of Manheim, Pa.; a sister and brother-in-law, Ingle Y. and Dennis Boyd, of Ararat; and nephews Lee Young and Dr. Stanley M. Boyd.
Surviving are nieces and nephews, John T. and Evelyn S. Young, Carol Y. Clement, and Les Edgell, all of Ararat; Ben and Pat S. Young of Rural Hall, N.C., David and Mary Lee Young of Stuart, Barry and Kathy Young of Ennis, Mont., Karan Young of Knoxville, Tenn., Princess Boyd of Mount Airy, N.C.; Shirlene B. Haas of Knoxville, Swanson Boyd of Belton, Tex., and Velma Koser of Manhiem, Pa.
Funeral services were held at Grandview Memorial Funeral Home in Sparta, N.C., Wednesday, January 13. She was laid to rest at Piney Creek United Methodist Church cemetery beside her husband.
