obit Hill, GeraldGerald Stephen Hill, age 65, of Lawsonville, N.C., died Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.
He was born in Stokes County, N.C., on January 13, 1951, and was a son of the late Vance C. Hill and Mary Tudor Hill. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Nancy Hill, Mary Gilliam and Annie Marshall; and two brothers, Alan Hill and David Hill.
He attended North Stokes High School, graduated from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and received a master’s degree from UNC-Greensboro. He was in the education field in Stokes County for many years.
Surviving are seven siblings and their spouses. Avery Glidewell and husband Andy of Greensboro, N.C., Beth Humble and husband Ken and Margie May, all of Julian, N.C., Rebecca Wilson and husband David of Stuart, Danny Hill and wife Betty of Lawsonville, Norma Harbour and husband Steve of Stuart, Ivan Hill and wife Sue of Lawsonville; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Izzy.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with the Rev. Alan Vass officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lawsonville Fire and Rescue Dept., 1013 FireRescue Lane, Lawsonville, NC 27022.
