Attention Patrick County High School students: the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Patrick County Soil and Water Conservation District sponsors two PCHS students on a first come first serve basis for the Virginia Association of Soil and Water Conservation Camp Scholarship.
The week-long camp will be held July 10-16 on the campus of Virginia Tech. The camp is designed to enlighten and expand the students’ knowledge of natural resource conservation. There will be a minimum of classroom work, with emphasis on outdoor learning.
Each camper attending will be given a certificate and award. Participants must be students in grades 9-12. No graduate of high school may attend camp. Previous Youth Conservation Camp campers are ineligible to attend.
The participant must return the application to the Patrick SWCD with a $100 non-refundable deposit by Tuesday, May 10; serious inquiries only. The district will sponsor the remaining balance of $450. The fee for camp will cover the student’s meals, lodging, activities and transportation while at camp.
For more information or an application, contact Sandra Heath or Tony Collins at the Patrick County Soil and Water Conservation District at 694-3121, extension 3, or visit the district office. The office is located on Stonewall Court in the USDA Service Center, along with the Farm Service Agency and Natural Resources Conservation Service. It is located behind Stuart Baptist Church.
