Actor/playwright Mark Donnell is telling the original Christmas story through a fresh set of eyes: a shepherd-on-the-scene named Abba Ding who was there from the angel’s Christmas night appearance through a meeting with the infant Jesus himself.
Donnell will present the story Sunday, December 11 at 11 a.m. at New Beginnings Baptist Church at 142 First Southern Drive, Patrick Springs.
Based on the Biblical story as told in the second chapter of Luke’s gospel, Donnell, who has entertained audiences in churches, public and private gatherings as Abba Ding since 1986, leads his audiences through the events as they were first announced in a field outside of Bethlehem using biblical text and gentle humor.
“Though many have heard this event recounted few have experienced how amazing it would have been to hear of Jesus’ birth for the very first time,” Donnell said.. “To be confronted by an angel would be startling enough, but to hear that God’s infant son would be found in a feed box in a stable would be unimaginable. That first time amazement is what we seek to share in this presentation.”
For information about Abba Ding contact Donnell at (336) 575-1478 or donnellclown@gmail.com.
